[sws_ui_toggle title=”English” closed=”false” jui_theme=”redmond” duration=”500″] Matthew is a 9 year old Coptic boy in the Church of the Virgin Mary and Saint Pachomios in Stony Point, NY, who was recently diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous leukemia, a very aggressive cancer of the blood cells.
He is not responding to chemotherapy and the only option left to save his life is a bone marrow transplant.
Unfortunately, there is no match in his immediate family. Egyptians are difficult to match with American donors and it is rare to find a match from the National Bone Marrow Registry. His hope for a bone marrow transplant is fading.
A bone marrow drive is scheduled in TWO Churches in NY area:
A) St. Mary and St. Antonios Church

Who can volunteer:
Age: 18- 65 years
No History of Hepatitis.
If you volunteered before, no need to re-register, your name is in the system
The Process:
Initially a swab from the mouth is taken using a cotton swab. If a match is found, a blood collection will determine if you are the exact match. Finally a tiny piece of the Iliac bone ( the waist bone) is taken under anesthesia. No harm at all is involved.
THE MORE THE NUMBER REGISTERING THE HIGHER THE CHANCE FOR MATTHEW TO FIND HIS MATCH

أحد أبناء الجالية المصرية فى ولاية نيويورك ، ماثيو منصور طفل ذو تسعة أعوام، مصاب بمرض سرطان الدم، و للأسف لم يفلح معه العلاج الكيميائي، والأطباء نصحوا بضرورة البحث عن متبرع للنخاع الشوكى يكون متوافقا مع طبيعة دم ماثيو.
ستقوم كنيسة السيدة العذراء و الأنبا انطونيوس بمنطقة كوينز بولاية نيويورك باستقبال متخصصين من بنك النخاع يوم 31 يوليوليقوموا بجمع عينات من أبناء الجالية من أجل محاولة ايجاد شخص يحمل دم ذو طبيعة متوافقة مع دم ماثيو، و نحن أصدقاء عائلة ماثيو ندعو جميع المصريين المقيمين بمنطقة نيويورك و نيوجيرسى و كاناتيكات الى الحضور و المساهمة فى هذا العمل لايجاد متبرع ذو دم متوافق.
جمع العينات سيبدء من الساعة 1 ظهرا حتى الثالثة عصرا، وهو اجراء مجانى بسيط عن طريق مسح بداخل الشفةلا يستغرق سوى بضعة دقائق لكنه اجراء ضرورى من أجل مساعدة ماثيو فى مواجهة هذا المرض اللعين، و سوف يتم أيضا جمع تبرعات ممن يود المساهمة فى العلاج، و فى حال ايجاد متبرع يصلح سيتم الاتصال بهذا الشخص لترتيب عملية التبرع لماثيو.
